Matias collected his fourth professional victory at the Sunshine Tour’s Eye of Africa PGA Championship in February 2018.
The win moved him into the top 500 in the Official World Golf Rankings for the first time.
After a stellar college career at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Matias turned professional at the end of 2016 and collected wins at the Tour de Pacifico’s Abierto Club de Polo, Abierto de Cachagua, and Abierto Santa Augusta de Quintay.
Following second place at The Roar on the Big Easy Tour and finishing tied for 27th at Sunshine Tour Q School he played regularly on the Sunshine Tour.
Having made his European Tour debut at the Joburg Open, he picked up a victory at the Eye of Africa, with rounds of 69, 68, 69, and 65.
