Callaway today announced the signing of Finnish hot prospect, Sami Välimäki, to its 2022 Staff Professional team on the DP World Tour.
Sami became the first player from Finland to win the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award after a fine European Tour debut season in 2020, finishing 11th on the Race to Dubai Rankings Presented by Rolex, including a first triumph in just his sixth start at the Oman Open.
The 23-year-old had previously made the top 10 of the World Amateur Golf Rankings in 2018 before turning professional following the completion of his military service in Finland.
Victory made Sami the fourth Finn to win on the European Tour after Mikko Ilonen, Roope Kakko and Mikko Korhonen, as he reached an Official Golf World Rankings high of 68.
Sami said: “I’m very proud to represent Finland in golf and to form part of #teamcallaway for 2022.
“I have been testing the new Callaway and Odyssey equipment during the winter, and can’t wait to get my 2022 campaign underway at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship this week, then on to Dubai. I’m genuinely excited to join Callaway and work alongside the team on Tour.”
Sami is also partnered with Unibet, Audermars Piguet, Oscar Jacobson and Nike for 2022.
