Mateusz Gradecki takes Limpopo Championship title

03 April 2022

Mateusz Gradecki picked up a first Challenge Tour victory of his career with a stunning win at the Limpopo Championship.

The Polish golfer started the final day in South Africa five shots off the lead but shot a bogey-free round of 66 to take the win by three shots.

He moves up to sixth on the Road to Mallorca standings and a career high of 347th in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Mateusz said: “It feels amazing. I’m over the moon and all the emotions are running right now because I can’t believe I have finally got that first win on the Challenge Tour.

“My putting was key to victory. I know I have been good enough to win tournaments at this level but my putting had to get better. I have been working hard on it over the last few and I’m delighted to see it pay off.

“This victory means everything to me. I never stopped believing and I knew my time would come eventually.”

Following last week's win at the SDC Open, Clement Sordet finished in ninth place, while Dutch youngster Nordin van Tilburg, making his first professional appearance on the Challenge Tour, was 11th.

Kristian Krogh Johannessen was 21st, Jeong Weon Ko was 26th and Matias Calderon was 51st.
